Cedric Lee Controversies arrest and conviction
Cedric Lee has been involved in several legal controversies. Notably, he was found guilty of serious illegal detention for ransom in the case brought by actor-comedian Vhong Navarro. The Taguig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) convicted Lee, model Deniece Cornejo, and two others on May 2, 2024. They were sentenced to reclusion perpetua, which in the Philippines means imprisonment for up to 40 years.
Additionally, Lee faced charges of tax evasion alongside Judy Gutierrez, also known as Ling Chia. They both pleaded guilty to these charges. In another case, the Sandiganbayan convicted Lee and former Mariveles, Bataan Mayor Angel Peliglorio Jr. of malversation of public funds related to the non-materialization of a public market construction project.
Following his conviction for the illegal detention case, the Philippine National Police (PNP) advised Lee to surrender peacefully. Arrest warrants were issued against him and his co-accused as they were not present during the court hearing.
