Olusola Oke was born on April 7, 1956, in Ilowo, a coastal town in the Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, Nigeria. Oke’s childhood was far from privileged. His parents, hailing from modest backgrounds with his father from Ilaje and his mother from Imoru town in Ose Local Government Area, faced financial challenges that hindered their ability to provide formal education for their son.

Despite these challenges, Oke’s ambition to learn never waned. At the tender age of seven, he had to drop out of school and take up fishing to support his family. For ten years, between 1963 and 1973, he worked as a fisherman.

Oke’s quest for education reignited in 1973 when he made the bold decision to leave fishing behind and return to school. He completed his primary education at Methodist Primary School, Ilepete, and went on to graduate from Methodist Secondary Modern School, Ilepete, in 1976. His academic journey continued at Ilaje Grammar School, Atijere, where he earned his West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1980. Following his secondary education, Oke briefly worked as an auxiliary teacher before pursuing higher education.

In 1981, he was admitted to Ondo State School of Arts and Science, Ikare, and shortly after, in 1982, he secured a place at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) to study law. Oke graduated with a law degree in 1986 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987, marking the beginning of a distinguished legal career.
