Deniece Cornejo, along with Cedric Lee and two others, were found guilty of serious illegal detention in the case filed by actor-comedian Vhong Navarro. The Taguig City Regional Trial Court delivered the verdict on May 2, 2024, sentencing them to reclusion perpetua, which is a form of life imprisonment in the Philippines.

The case stems from an incident that occurred on January 22, 2014, where Navarro accused Lee’s group of detaining him in Cornejo’s condominium unit in Bonifacio Global City. Navarro was allegedly threatened and intimidated with firearms, and Lee demanded a ransom of P2 million for his release, to which Navarro agreed to pay half the amount.
