In November 1999, Mokaya’s career progressed as she took on the role of Resident Magistrate at Kisumu and Winam Law Courts, a position she held until December 2003. During this time, she was recognized for ensuring the prompt dispensation of justice and for streamlining the bond and bail application process, demonstrating her ability to improve judicial efficiency.
Mokaya’s dedication and skill led to her appointment as Senior Resident Magistrate for Kisumu and Milimani Law Courts from December 2003 to June 2008. Her leadership in this role was evident through her successful organization of bar-bench committee meetings and her attention to staff welfare and delegation at Sheria Sacco.
June 2008 marked another milestone for Mokaya as she became a Principal Magistrate at the Milimani Law Courts, serving until October 2011. Her achievements include participating in the preparation of the JSC strategic plan for 2022-2027 and supporting the JSC on litigation with a success rate of 75 percent.
In March 2024, Mokaya’s illustrious career culminated in her appointment as the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary by the Judicial Service Commission.
