Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s career began at the State Security Department in 1983, where he held various roles, culminating in his position as Chairman from 1992 to 2006.
In 2006, Sheikh Hazza was appointed as the National Security Advisor of the UAE, a role he served in until 2016. During this period, he was responsible for advising on national security matters and played a key role in shaping the UAE’s security policies amidst a rapidly changing regional and global landscape.
Sheikh Hazza also made significant contributions to the governance of Abu Dhabi. He was appointed as the Vice President of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi Emirate and later became a member of the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi in 2010.
His commitment to public service extended to the Emirates Identity Authority, where he served as Chairman from 2012 to 2017.
Sheikh Hazza’s passion for sports was evident in his positions as Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and President of the Abu Dhabi Combat Club. He was a strong advocate for sports and played a pivotal role in promoting athletic talent and sports initiatives in the UAE.

The UAE Presidential Court expressed its condolences, and the burial was held on the same day in accordance with Islamic customs.
