The incident sparked widespread debate and criticism, with some viewing the arrest as a politically motivated act to divert attention from ongoing corruption scandals. Adorye’s statements were made during an interview on Accra FM, where he alleged that the blasts were part of a strategy to favor the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the elections.

This led to charges against him for the publication of false news, and he was subsequently granted bail by the Dansoman District Court on May 23, 2024, set at GH¢20,000 with two sureties.

Following his release, Adorye expressed that the arrest and detention had inadvertently given him “30 years’ worth of glory and political mileage,” suggesting that the ordeal had paradoxically enhanced his public profile and political influence. He also indicated his plans to establish an advocacy group named ‘Jail Them Advocacy Group’ after the NPP loses power in 2025.
